In a recent report from TVLine, it was revealed that Legends plans to establish a former relationship of Constantine, which presumably took place between the events of NBC’s Constantine and the character’s Arrowverse debut.  The relationship will reportedly be with a man, and have some sort of tragic undertones that still haunt Constantine to this day.

John Constantine is awesome!

For fans who have been following Ryan’s portrayal of the DC Comics demonologist – and who have been hoping to see the character’s bisexuality accurately represented onscreen – this will surely be some good news. And of course, some will surely speculate about which character could be Constantine’s former lover, and if it’s someone that television audiences have already met.

This is just the latest example of why Constantine fans will be hyped for Legends’ latest season. Legends of Tomorrow did a great job with his character and now it’s time to explore his character further more.

“I had not really realized the fervor of [Constantine’s] fandom,” showrunner Klemmer told ComicBook.com earlier this year. “I sort of accidentally discovered it. Honestly, we put him on the show just because we wanted him on the show. There’s no cynical calculation of trying to accumulate somebody else’s fans. I think we have fun with our characters. Having Tala Ashe on the show…she’s cool. If I just needed an adjective to describe her, she is a cool lady. I feel the same way about Constantine and Matt. We wanted just a counterpoint to our Legends….Personally, I can’t imagine Constantine having quarters on the Waverider.
I want to keep him Constantine. I don’t want to ever have a scene of him having to do his laundry because to me, guys like Constantine, they always have clean clothes. Who knows where they come from? I don’t want to see that scene.”

“There’s always other elements of the character, and it’s great, but we can bring those to the fore in this show.” Ryan said in a recent convention appearance. “That’s one thing I love about John is, he has so much going on and there’s so much more to explore that keeps you interested. Because there are all these weird story lines that are being written over the years, that people always draw on them.”

Just like any other film or television show, anime are broken up into genres. The genres include your classic drama, comedy, horror, etc. But there are also genres such as slice of life, shounen, shoujo, and fan service. Knowing these genres are key to finding the perfect anime for you!

Let’s begin with the slice of life genre! This genre is basically what it sounds like. Slice of Life can be any anime that includes a coming of age concept, relationships between friends/lovers as well as family. The key to the perfect slice of life anime includes seasonality within the series. Many sports anime can be categorized within the slice of life genre.

Shoujo and shounen anime are geared toward a specific audience type. Shoujo anime is typically made for young female viewers while a shounen series is made for a young male audience. A popular shounen anime would be Dragonball Z while Sailor Moon could be categorized as a shoujo anime series (one of my favorites). Many people don’t care for these two genres due to the fact that many people watch their anime of choice regardless of the shoujo or shounen genre.

Now anime that appear within the fan service genre are made specifically to please the audience. This may include intense violence, racy clothing or two characters who are strongly shipped together becoming intimate. Fan service is also found in shounen manga.

Let’s start at the beginning.

Yuri On Ice was my first, and by first I mean first sports anime (get your head out of the gutter). After finishing the first season, I immediately wanted more. But waiting months for the second season wasn’t going to fly. So I decided to pursue other sports related series that would fill the void in my aching otaku heart. So the hunt was on!

After literally 10 minutes of searching, I found them. From swimming to cheerleading, there is an anime for just about every sport. I’m at the point where I’m waiting for an anime about competitive trampolining.

But if you’re looking for a short Slice of Life anime like Yuri On Ice I would definitely recommend the series All Out! It’s a rugby anime that is absolutely full of intense game scenes, team bonding, hot characters as well as a few homo-erotic moments that Yuri on Ice is known for. All Out! definitely filled a large portion of the Yuri On Ice void. I would truly recommend watching while waiting for the second season of YOI.
