A ruthless corporate leader, Harold Meachum was partners with Danny Rand’s parents at the time of their deaths. What role he plays in Danny’s past and future will be revealed over the course of the series. In the source material, Meachum is directly responsible for the death of Danny Rand’s father. The character’s daughter, Joy Meachum, was previously mentioned in a teaser image for the series.

“I’m very excited to have David as our Harold Meachum. David is capable of displaying raw, visceral strength as well as extremely keen intelligence,” said Executive Producer and Showrunner, Scott Buck. “This will add up to a character of complex depth who will keep us off balance all season.”

“David brings both a vulnerability and a danger to his many diverse roles”. This key quality creates a gravitas our series requires as Danny unravels the secrets behind Rand Enterprises.”

Wenham is added to the roster of Iron Fist cast members after the announcement of Finn Jones (Game of Thrones), who will play the lead role of Danny Rand aka Iron Fist and Jessica Henwick, who will play Colleen Wing.

First appearing in Marvel Premiere #15  in 1974, Iron Fist was created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane, and has been featured in numerous Marvel Comics titles. Often occupying pages with the kung-fu master of Kun Lun are fellow heroes Luke Cage aka Power Fist, Colleen Wing, Matt Murdock aka Daredevil and Misty Knight (to name only a few). Originally created as a means to capitalize on the wuxia action film craze of the mid-1970s, Iron Fist has since become a staple fan favorite of true believers across the globe.

Iron Fist will be the fourth series scheduled in what has been a thus far stellar run for Marvel Television. The series will see Daniel Rand returning to New York City after being missing for years. There, he fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

Jones leads the cast of the series as Danny Rand, The Immortal Iron Fist. He’s joined by Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing and David Wenham as Harold Meachum.

Scott Buck (Dexter, Rome, Six Feet Under) serves as showrunner and executive producer.

Marvel’s Iron Fist will be available for streaming in it’s entirety on Netflix not long after Marvel’s Luke Cage, which premieres some time in 2016. Following the lot will be the mini-series event Marvel’s The Defenders, which will see Rand, Cage, Jessica Jones and Matt Murdock aka Daredevil finally unite.

    The character Iron Fist  was created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane, and made his comic debut in Marvel Premiere #15, in May 1974. Created as a means to tap into the kung-fu/wuxia action film craze of the 70’s, Iron Fist quickly became a favorite among comic readers. Even after the decline of the kung-fu action film, his character and prolonged appeal has led numerous solo runs and even more team-based and crossover titles in the Marvel Universe.

Iron Fist will be the fourth Marvel based Netflix series to be released in the coming year, following the critically-acclaimed first seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Danny Rand will hit the scene not too long after Marvel’s Luke Cage is released, and just before all the heroes team up in the mini-series, Marvel’s The Defenders.
