The sepia-soaked video includes plenty of moody visuals and gothic scenes that look like something straight out of Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story meets Eyes Wide Shut. The video depicts Dan Reynolds as a latter-day Miss Havisham in an old house that’s fallen into ruin. The energetic and inspiring song will be the anthem for this season of ESPN’s college football– a combination that makes sense as you feel ready to take on the world after hearing it. The song empowers you to do anything.

In New York City’s male dominated DJ scene you will find a woman who is turning the nightlife upside down to navigate her rise to national acclaim. DJ Paola Shea has been featured on entertainment’s top networks and media outlets such as MTV, E Online, and Entertainment Weekly, as well OK and Maxim magazine. I decided to learn more about the talented DJ and asked her some hard hitting questions.

Vanessa Contreras participated in Miss NJ USA and Miss Dominican Republic US, winning runner-up on multiple occasions.”Something I have enjoyed even more has been training and coaching young women who are participating in pageants. Helping them embrace the beauty they may not see is a process I truly enjoy,” said Vanessa.

Vanessa loves everything that she fulfills when it comes to her talent abilities.”Growing up I was always very curious about photoshop and video editing programs. As time went on, a fun hobby turned into a platform where I can inspire people to do different things, or women in particular,” said Vanessa.

When she creates her content, she does it with a main goal and that is to “inspire.” “I create most of my content to inspire women. I want to prove to women that being true to themselves and being confident can be portrayed without having to show skin. There are still so many misconceptions of beauty. Living in a generation with so many filters I always try to create content that is true to who I am,” stated Vanessa.

Vanessa enjoyed her most recent collaboration in the official music video for the viral song, “Scooby Doo Pa Pa.” “The energy on the set of “Scooby Doo Pa Pa” was really one of a kind! The diversity and great vibes really made shooting the video such a good time and I think the end result really demonstrates that! what you see is what you get from us in that video. It was also a great moment to network and since then I have worked on some fun projects with some of our favorite Instagrammers,” assured Vanessa.

Vanessa appreciates the love and support she’s been given from her followers on Instagram. “I want them to know that I will always be pushing my hardest to keep it REAL and keep it ME and always CLASSY! What you see is what you get and I have so much more content cooking in the pot!” said Vanessa. Adding that, “Ideally, I would love to pursue a career in TV production as a digital correspondent or a talk show host. “Actually, it started off with me wanting to do a mix tape. Everyone does a mix tape and I thought to myself what can I do to make this different?” He then began to write fiction as ideas came to him.

“It occurs in a post-apocalyptic future and follows this artist, Slick, who wants to be a hip hop artist more than anything. He winds up meeting a DJ who said if you sign this contract I can make you a star.” Drake explained, “He doesn’t read the contract and signs it. He then finds out that he signed up to be a hitman for hire. Now he has to navigate being a hitman and trying to release a debut album at the same time.”

Drake promoted ‘The Indies’ and a few contributors’ art pieces at BoroughCon at St. John’s University in Queens, NY. He excitedly described the atmosphere as he and his contributors worked on the project.

“I recorded out of, Grammy Award winning, House Studios in Washington D.C…The music came out really dope. It was a dope energy because there were three different rooms and everybody was bouncing from room to room to room just collaborating.”

Before this endeavor, he worked on ‘The Blender with DJ Gemz and DJ Tony Drake’ so he has previous connections with the music industry. These connections and knowledge of the industry helped open doors for this plan.  Contributors began to come together as the story took shape. From music to cartooning he enlists talented artists from all over the U.S.

“We are trying to get diverse characters that are deep and have a lot of layers to them. To put that in this world were the music really makes up the environment,” he said.

As the pieces come together a web comic will be released at the end of summer which should be followed by a short in September.

“We going to be doing a kick starter…that will give people a better idea of the  personalities of the different characters so I’m really looking forward to that.” Drake explained ‘people are craving diverse stories with different type of characters.’

Like the main character of the series, many of the contributors are up and coming artists. As long as the person is talented they are invited to contribute their skills.

“[The Indies can] also be a platform for artist as far as music artists that are dope but don’t get the shine. We can put this in front of millions of people and then have artists that we believe in on the soundtrack. It can help propel a lot of artists.”

Tumblr is a social networking website that was founded by David Karp. The website/app allows a person to post pictures, gifs (moving pictures), videos and regular text posts. Doctor Who is a BBC TV show about a Time Lord who has adventures with his companion as they travel through time and space in the TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimension In Space), which is basically a giant blue police box that blends in with its surroundings.

Okay so now you know the gist of the two, but what do they have in common? People that work for Doctor Who the TV show have an official Tumblr account that goes by the username of “doctorwho.”  The account reblogs pictures, gifs, videos and text posts that specifically revolve around Doctor Who. When an episode of the show is live on television, tumblr users express their feelings through memes about what is currently going on in the show. A meme is an image or text post that revolves around either a funny or stupid joke or reference and it gets passed on from person to person through social media. The people who run the Doctor Who account always reblog posts about the episode from Doctor Who fans (Whovians) that are watching the episode live. While watching the eleventh episode of the ninth series of DW , “Heaven Sent,” I decided to contribute to the flood of other posts on Tumblr.

There’s this popular meme where the first stanza of “Let It Be” by The Beatles is alternated to fit a situation that is currently going on. For those who aren’t familiar with the song, which is kind of difficult to believe because the song is basically a part of music history but just in case, it goes like this:

Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be

Near the end of “Heaven Sent,” Clara Oswald, the Twelfth Doctor’s companion, attempted and succeeded to encourage the Doctor to keep moving forward by telling him “Get up off your arse… and win!” As soon as Clara said that, I immediately thought of the “Let It Be” meme and texted my fellow Whovian friend  the following:

She flat out told me, “You need to post that on Tumblr because if you don’t, then I will. That is GOLD.” I took her advice and decided to post the text post on my tumblr account with the username “ayeanthizilla.” Well remember how I said that the Doctor Who official Tumblr reblogs posts from Whovians that are watching the episode live? Yeah well they reblogged my post and because the official page reblogged it, the post gained over 3000 notes. It became one of the most reblogged Doctor Who text posts of 2015. The DW Tumblr recognized my post as being one of the “fandom famous” posts and asked me in a private message if they could show my post in the Fan-Picked-Favorites episode for the season nine recap/before-season-ten-comes out special! So yeah, look out for my Tumblr post in the new special that is going to premier sometime soon!
