The film cleverly blends humor, action, and a meta-narrative that fans have come to expect from Deadpool. The plot revolves around Deadpool and Wolverine teaming up (or perhaps more accurately, reluctantly working together) to face a new threat. Their dynamic is at the heart of the movie, with Deadpool’s irreverence clashing humorously with Wolverine’s gruff, no-nonsense demeanor.

What Can I Say About the Performances

Ryan Reynolds delivers his usual quick-witted, fourth-wall-breaking performance as Deadpool, while Hugh Jackman brings back the brooding intensity of Wolverine. The on-screen chemistry between the two is electric, with plenty of banter, fights, and unexpected moments of camaraderie. Jackman’s return as Wolverine has been a major highlight, especially considering his previous farewell to the character in “Logan.”

Action and Humor

The action sequences are well-executed, with a mix of brutal, fast-paced fights typical of Wolverine and more creative, over-the-top violence that fits Deadpool’s style. In the wake of the tragic passing of Burt Reynolds earlier today, many people are paying tribute to the famous actor and posting their own messages in honor of the Academy Award-nominated star.

Now Ryan Reynolds posted a hilarious photo honoring the late actor, pointing out how Burt inspired a humorous marketing campaign for Deadpool.

Ryan’s statement is the latest to come from family, friends, and colleagues all outpouring in their support. The actor’s passing was a surprise to many, and in response people are speaking about their favorite memories of the iconic star.

Burt’s family issued a statement to the Hollywood Reporter, where his niece Nancy Lee Hess reflected on his legacy.

“My uncle was not just a movie icon; he was a generous, passionate, and sensitive man who was dedicated to his family, friends, fans, and acting students,” said Hess.

“He has had health issues, however, this was totally unexpected. He was tough. Anyone who breaks their tailbone on a river and finishes the movie is tough. And that’s who he was. My uncle was looking forward to working with Quentin Tarantino [in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood] and the amazing cast that was assembled.”

Burt’s former flame and co-star of the classic Smokey and the Bandit, Sally Field, issued a statement to the Associated Press in honor of his memory.

“There are times in your life that are so indelible, they never fade away. They stay alive, even forty years later. My years with Burt never leave my mind. He will be in my history and my heart, for as long as I live. Rest, Buddy,” Field’s statement reads.

These declarations are just a few of the many, many statements issued in the wake of Burt Reynold’s passing. Everyone has come out in support of the family while honoring the storied legacy the actor has had on the industry.

Burt Reynolds was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in Boogie Nights, and is known for films such as Deliverance, Cannonball Run, Smokey and the Bandit, and The Longest Yard. He is survived by his son Quinton.

Should Infinity War even count as a summer movie since Disney bumped its release from May 4th to April 27th? In the past, a film released on the last weekend in April was a spring release, but Hollywood continues to blur the lines between actual seasons and “movie” seasons.

If we were being strict about the actual definition of “summer” then only movies released between June 21 and September 22, 2018, would count as summer movies. But Hollywood doesn’t do that. Here at Geekcaster, we decided to include Infinity War … simply because we can.

After Infinity War, Disney’s three other releases in the Top 10 include Incredibles 2 ($597.7 million), Solo: A Star Wars Story ($213.6 million), and Ant-Man and the Wasp ($212 million). Some people may say Solo didn’t live up to the hype, but I thought it was okay.

The Avengers and Ant-Man and the Wasp weren’t the only Marvel superheroes to dominate the box office this summer. Fox’s Deadpool 2 came in fourth place with $318.4 million. Deadpool right now is probably saying “In your face Thanos!”

After Disney, Universal took two spots on the summer box office’s Top 10, with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom ($413.2 million) and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again ($116.2 million). Paramount (Mission: Impossible – Fallout), Sony (Hotel Transylvania 3), and Warner Bros. (Ocean’s 8) each scored a film in the Top 10.

Below is the synopsis for Deadpool 2:

Wisecracking mercenary Deadpool meets Russell, an angry teenage mutant who lives at an orphanage. When Russell becomes the target of Cable — a genetically enhanced soldier from the future — Deadpool realizes that he’ll need some help saving the boy from such a superior enemy. He soon joins forces with Bedlam, Shatterstar, Domino and other powerful mutants to protect young Russell from Cable and his advanced weaponry.

Brad Pitt made one very specific, semi-demeaning request of the film’s star, Ryan Reynolds, before agreeing to make his surprise, split-second cameo as X-Force recruit the Vanisher in the new superhero hit Deadpool 2.

“He said ‘I want a hand-delivered Starbucks coffee from Ryan Reynolds himself,’” Rhett Reese told Yahoo Entertainment last week when he stopped by our Los Angeles studios with his co-writer, Paul Wernick. The writer is also known for 2009’s Zombieland. Director David Leitch got even more specific: “I think it was a double-wet cappuccino,” he recalled.

It sounds as if Reynolds could’ve gotten away without the coffee errand, though. “On the day, Ryan delivered it, and Brad had kind of forgotten about it,” Reese said. “He gets this coffee and goes, ‘Oh my God. I forgot I asked for that.’” At this point, Ryan Reynolds just shook his head and said “Now I know how George Clooney feels like.”

Pitt didn’t ask for much money, either. The A-lister “worked for scale” on the film, meaning the minimum he could accept as a member of the Screen Actors Guild, which IndieWire notes would have been less than $1,000. You may think that’s a large sum for such a small role but … It’s Brad Pitt!

Pitt, it turns out, isn’t the only George Clooney pal and Ocean’s 11 alum to cameo in Deadpool 2. While Pitt’s quick appearance is very much identifiable, Reese and Wernick revealed with pride that none of the “thousands” of people who’d screened the movie prior to its release had spotted a heavily made-up Matt Damon, who appears alongside Alan Tudyk as a redneck whose toilet paper manifesto is interrupted by a time-traveling Cable (Josh Brolin).

This past Wednesday, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds posted a letter on social media from Wade Wilson asking fans not to spoil Deadpool 2. The letter poked fun at a statement from the Russo brothers in April regarding Infinity War spoilers.

Yes … The Russo Brothers went there. It seems the Infinity War Directors are not afraid of Deadpool. Reynolds replied to the Russo brothers’ response, saying, “I deserve that.”

If Disney’s deal to acquire 21st Century Fox goes through—and Comcast doesn’t buy Fox instead—Deadpool may eventually join the MCU. While Disney sees an opportunity for an R-rated Marvel brand at the company, Reynolds said he’s unsure if Deadpool 3 will happen.

Deadpool 2 opens in theaters on May 15 in the UK, May 16 in Australia, and May 18 in the US. According to Reynolds, Fox made him remove a joke about Disney from the film. Hopefully I can find the joke on the Internet.

Avengers: Infinity War has proven to be a massive hit for Disney and Marvel Studios. The film reached the $1 billion sales mark in record time and has shattered box office presale records in China.

There is no way to know whether Miller, who plays Weasel in the Deadpool films, would have made his way into X-Force at all given the scope of a superhero team-up film and the fact that supporting characters from solo movies are routinely left out of these huge films.

During an interview with the New York Times, Reynolds declined to comment on the various allegations being put against his co-star…but did confirm that Miller was not involved in X-Force, Reynolds’s next planned Deadpool appearance following this month’s Deadpool 2.

If Weasel is not part of the X-Force films, it is possible Miller’s time as the Weasel could be done. Reynolds is not sure a Deadpool 3 is in the future. I personally wouldn’t mind seeing Deadpool team up with Rogue in a third installment of the franchise.

After Miller’s sexual assault charges went public, fans wondered whether he would remain a major character in Deadpool 2, with some suggesting that he could be replaced, and the replacement commented upon, both because of Deadpool’s genre-savvy nature and as a send-up of the way Christopher Plummer was called into to replace Kevin Spacey following Spacey’s similar allegations.

Deadpool 2 was originally said to feature a larger role for Weasel than the first film, although that could have been changed in editing. When asked back in January whether Miller might be replaced in the film, executive producer Lauren Shuler Donner cast significant doubt on the prospect.

“We’re in the final editing. I don’t think so,” she said at the time.

Other than Deadpool, producers are apparently still deciding what superheroes will appear in the X-Force movie (Again, I wouldn’t mind seeing Rogue show up in a future Deadpool related movie). This comes at a time where things seem a little uncertain across the board with Fox’s Marvel properties: New Mutants and X-Men: Dark Phoenix are reportedly undergoing significant reshoots, and likely mark the final Marvel films produced before Fox is folded into Disney.

Mr. Martin Juarez works for General Motors. A married man with four children and one granddaughter, he began collecting comics with his brother in the 1980’s. He never really had a preference on what comic company he bought from for like many other readers if the story caught his attention he kept on buying the same series. [Most comic book titles published by various comic books companies were very good back in the 1980s.] He happened to have purchased many special issues throughout the years, including highly sought after comics such as the first appearance of popular Marvel Comics characters Cable and Deadpool, and even a specially graded issue of DC’s Batman Eternal autographed by writer Scott Snyder.  Since the 1980s to the present Mr. Juarez has collected enough comic books to store in a mixture of long storage boxes and some shorter ones, 15 in total.  He planned on handing down his comics to his children someday.

Like many others before him, Mr. Juarez rented a self-storage unit due to a lack of space in his residence to store and protect various valuable and sentimental items including all of his comic books. Mr. Juarez  put the comics into a specific self-storage unit facility that was referred to him by a friend.    

According to Mr. Juarez, he and his wife signed a monthly contract with the facility. When they moved to a different part of town, they called the facility to advise it of their new home address. On June 3rd, Mr. Juarez went to the storage place to make a payment because the monthly fee for their rented self-storage unit never came out of their account for the month of May according to his bank records. When he told them he was there to make a payment, he was informed by the manager at the office “not to worry about it” because his storage unit was auctioned off! He was informed that they sent letters to his attention, but the facility still had the Juarez’s old address on file even though the Juarez’s insist that they had called and advised the facility of their new address. The storage facility accused Mr. Juarez of failing to make payments since October 2015 but Mr. Juarez’s bank statements suggest otherwise. His records indicate that payments were made via automatic withdrawal until May 2016. The storage facility further implied that Mr. Juarez did not return their phone calls.

“They said they called us but our phone records show no phone calls came from them. I was devastated, not just because of my comics being gone, but because of everything we had in there that was of family memories. It really hurts to have your personal things taken from you. A lot of memories gone.”

“When they sold our storage unit in the auction, all they would say is “sorry”.”

To make matters worse, Mr. Juarez learned that the person who bought his family unit in the auction had already sold everything. Had the Juarez family physically received notice from the management or the legal representative of the facility they would still have had their cherished possessions.

Mr. Juarez  wants people to learn from his experience. His advice to people who want to get a storage unit is to “Write down everything that you have going into your storage unit and log it. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE. Find out the value of each item that you have and keep it updated each month.” When asked if he would ever use a self-storage unit facility again Mr. Juarez answered he would. “…I would get another storage unit if need be. I’ve learned the hard way on what to do.”

Most affected by the loss of the comic books, other than Mr. Juarez, is his 16 year old daughter. “She’s the one who’s into comics like me” he said.

Luckily the Juarez family did have renter’s insurance and is in the process of filing a claim. The family is also considering legal action against the facility .

Monthly rates for self storage units at storage facilities can be expensive and do not guarantee that one’s personal belongings, be it an RV camper, a boat, or boxes of comic books, are fully secure. Martin Juarez’s story is proof that even a miscommunication during  a crosstown move can have you lose your belongings. It is best to  heed the advice of Mr. Juarez: get insurance, pay attention to the status of your unit, and log & keep photographs of your items for insurance purposes and police reports.
