Fresh from their Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Warner Bros. Pictures has dropped two potential bombshells with the official Justice League and Wonder Woman teaser trailers. The first featuring several of DC’s most prolific and long-loved heroes joining forces (maybe, Aquaman is a bit of a tough sell…), and the second featuring the amazon warrior herself in a solo adventure unlike anything we’ve seen thus far from the DC Cinematic Universe. Both trailers can be viewed below.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League will see Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot reprising their roles as the DC Trinity, Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman in Justice League, and joining them are Jason Mamoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, and Ezra Miller as The Flash. Amber Heard is set to play Queen Mera in the film as well before moving to the solo film slated for 2018, with Willem Dafoe appearing in a mystery role, and J.K. Simmons playing Commissioner Gordon.

Directed by Zack Snyder (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Justice League will debut in theaters on November 10, 2017.

With production on the Justice League movie already a month in on location in London, Gadot likely hasn’t hung up her lasso yet. Set to reprise her role as the iconic super-heroine, Gadot will star alongside Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher, and Jason Momoa in the Zack Snyder directed film, which aims to bring the DC’s strongest heroes together on the big screen in 2017.

Also starring with Gadot in the WW solo film: Chris Pine (Star Trek), Robin Wright (House of Cards), David Thewlis (The Theory of Everything), Danny Huston (Clash of the Titans), Ewen Bremner (Snowpiercer), Saïd Taghmaoui (American Hustle), Elena Anaya (The Skin I Live In), Connie Nielsen (Gladiator) and Lucy Davis (Shaun of the Dead).

Grahame-Smith’s screenwriting credentials consist of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, as well as previous drafts of Beetlejuice 2. The DC Cinematic Universe’s take on the scarlet speedster was supposed to Grahame-Smith’s directorial debut, which boasts a treatment written by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, known for their directing The LEGO Movie.

Ezra Miller (The Perks of Being a Wallflower, We Need to Talk About Kevin) will play the lead role of Barry Allen/The Flash in the DCU’s film iteration. Previously, Miller made his debut as Allen in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

“I’d like the character to have many dimensions,” said Miller about his character in the film. “But really, I’d like him to have the usual dimensions we know and love, and then some extra ones that are part of the amazing consideration of this superhero. I hope to realize him as a person, and I think what’s most exciting for me in superhero mythologies is when we feel the humanity of someone who is heroic — or the heroism of someone who is a flawed, deeply human person.”

Dafoe’s other noted roles include:   American Psycho, Boondock Saints, and John Wick (to name a few), and was previously nominated for two Oscars for his supporting roles in Shadow of the Vampire and Platoon.

Justice League will mark the return of Zack Snyder in the director chair for the film, with Argo‘s Chris Terrio on script duties. Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot star as the DC Trinity, Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman in the film. Jason Mamoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, and Ezra Miller as The Flash. Amber Heard is set to play Queen Mera in the film as well before moving to the solo Aquaman film in 2018. J.K. Simmons will also appear as Commissioner Gordon. Filming for Justice League has commenced on location in London, with shooting also scheduled to take place in Iceland.

Justice League will slated to hit in theaters November 10, 2017.

Directed by David Ayer (Fury), Suicide Squad stars Will Smith as Floyd Lawton aka Deadshot, Joel Kinnaman (RoboCop) as Rick Flagg,  Jai Courtney (Divergent, The Water Diviner) as Captain Boomerang, Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street, Focus) as Harley Quinn and Cara Delevingne (Pan) as Enchantress. Also starring; Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Lost, Thor: The Dark World) as Killer Croc, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Jay Hernandez as El DIablo, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, and — last but certainly not least — Jared Leto will play the role of the ever-infamous Joker. Scott Eastwood, Ike Barinholtz, Common, Raymond Olubowale, Alex Meraz and Jim Parrack will also appear in the film in as of yet unknown roles.

Suicide Squad, aka Task Force X, was created by Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru in 1959, and has featured many DC villains among its ranks, such as Deadshot, Bane, Captain Boomerang, Count Vertigo, Killer Frost, Poison Ivy, Deathstroke, and (of course) Harley Quinn.

“To me, they shouldn’t be dressed in armor like men. It should be different. It should be authentic and real—and appealing to women.”

Currently, it is unknown in what capacity Simmons’ iteration of Gordon will be involved in the first part of the JL flick. It can be assumed however that his role will carry over into the Batman reboot, titled thus far as The Batman, which is currently slated for release some time in 2019.

A long standing and staple character in the DC Comics brand, James Gordon has been portrayed by a host of actors in a multitude of films and series, both animated and live-action. Neil Hamilton played him on the hilariously campy 1966 Batman serial, which starred Adam West. Pat Hingle took on the role in Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher’s Batman films (the breathtakingly abysmal Batman & Robin included). Gary Oldman took on the role in Christopher Nolan’s [mostly] critically acclaimed Dark Knight trilogy, and — currently — Ben McKenzie plays a young iteration on FOX’s Gotham.

Animated versions of the commissioner have played by actors the like of Bryan Cranston, Jim Meskimen, Richard Epcar and the late and great Bob Hastings (to name a few).

Simmons will join Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot as the DC Trinity, Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman respectively. Jason Mamoa, Ray Fisher, and Ezra Miller will play Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Victor Stone/Cyborg and Barry Allen/The Flash. Amber Heard will play Queen Mera in JL Part 1 prior to joining Mamoa in the solo Aquaman film. Justice League begins filming in April and will take place in both Iceland and London.

Long awaited — and even moreso delayed — Wonder Woman’s live-action film is being directed by Patty Jenkins, and will star Gal Gadot as our titular heroine, Chris Pine (Star Trek) as Steve Trevor, Robin Wright (Netflix’s House of Cards), David Thewlis (The Theory of Everything), Danny Huston (Clash of the Titans), Ewen Bremner (Snowpiercer, Exodus: Gods and Kings), Saïd Taghmaoui (American Hustle), Elena Anaya (The Skin I Live In) Connie Nielsen (Gladiator, Nymphomaniac: Vol. I) and Lucy Davis (Shaun of the Dead).

Principal photography on the film began in late November, 2015 and will take place on location in the UK, France and Italy.

An anticipated entry in the ambitious DC Cinematic Universe, Wonder Woman is set for theater release on June 23, 2017.
