DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer Geoff Johns confirmed the casting in an interview discussing his newly acquired station at Warner Bros.’ movies involving their DC Comics titles.

Johns has remained mum on whether or not Deathstroke will have a cameo in upcoming Justice League film, which is currently shooting in London.

Created by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez, Deathstroke first appeared on the pages of Teen Titans in 1980 (initially going by the moniker the Terminator), before getting his own comic series in 1991. Wilson is a famous mercenary in the world of DC Comics, his fame of being able to go toe-to-toe with (even defeat) Batman on multiple occasions being only a single note in his list of notable feats.

The creator and producer put the kibosh on Booster Gold occupying the DC Extended Universe along with Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl during an interview with Vulture. Previously, Berlanti was confirmed in having a hand in a live-action Booster Gold film by way of Warner Bros.  However, the BG film would be a standalone film, having no connection to the DCEU.

Zack Stentz, co-writer of X-Men: First Class, Thor, Power Rangers, and The Flash episodes ‘Monster’ and ‘The Runaway Dinosaur’,  created the script for the feature film, hinted at being a ‘buddy cop superhero movie’ starring Booster Gold and Blue Beetle, whose friendship in DC Comics lore has gone down as core material in their respective canons.

Created in 1986 by Dan Jurgens and featured in his own series, Booster Gold’s real name is Michael Jon Carter, a failed football player from 25th Century Gotham City. After Carter travels back in time to the present day DC Universe, he makes use of his futuristic technology to become a hero, at first eschewing traditional heroic notions of justice and nobility and instead signing endorsement deals and shamelessly self-promoting.

Previously attached to 20th Century Fox’s upcoming X-Men related film, Gambit, the Hollywood Reporter broke word that Liman departed the Marvel superhero title for the DC camp. Years prior to this development, writer and director Guillermo Del Toro had been championing the JLD project, gaining the film’s creation traction but no official word or green light from Universal execs. Rumors hinted to Ron Perlman — Hellboy himself — playing Swamp Thing, Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor being considered for the role of John Constantine and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story villain, Ben Mendelsohn, was being eyed for the film’s primary villain, Anton Arcane.

No official release date or screenwriter for the film has ever been announced, but Warner Bros. has previously reserved the dates of October 5, 2018 and November 1, 2019 for yet Untitled DC films.

The month of November will mark the end of Brian Michael Bendis and David Marquez’s 8-issue miniseries, Civil War II.

Even those who have never picked up a Spider-Man comic know her to be the long-time romantic interest of Peter Parker, our friendly neighborhood web-slinger. Tom Holland made his debut as the third incarnation of the web-head in Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, which stated in the post-credits scene he would return for more on-screen action.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will also star Marisa Tomei, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Robert Downey Jr., Kenneth Choi, Donald Glover, Michael Keaton, Logan Marshall Green, Martin Starr, Hannibal Buress, Isabella Amara, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., J.J. Marvel Entertainment has officially given the green light to turn Brian K. Vaughn and Adrian Alphona’s team of super-powered teenagers into a television series. Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage will executive produce the Runaways TV series, which focuses on a group of six teenagers who discover that their parents are actually a band of supervillains and (as their title states) run away into the broader world of Marvel.

“I’m a long-time fan of Runaways and couldn’t be more excited to bring Brian and Adrian’s characters to life,” Schwartz said.

“We’ve known the Runaways‘ story would make great television,” Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb said. “And being lucky enough to have Josh and Stephanie — who have time and again created shows that speak so genuinely to this exact audience — write and produce the series is nothing short of remarkable.”

Beginning in 2003, Runaways’ core characters Karolina Dean (the daughter of alien invaders), Nico Minoru (the daughter of wizards), Molly Hayes (the daughter of mutants), Chase Stein (the son of mad scientists), Alex Wilder (the son of mafia bosses), and Gertrude Yorkes (the daughter of time-traveling criminals. The series would eventually add Old Lace, a genetically engineered dinosaur hailing from the 87th century, and so forth.

Iron Man 3 writer Drew Pearce had previously teased a television adaptation of the comic after creating a film script for what was supposed to be a feature film.

Created by Bob Haney and Nick Cardy, Black Manta has served as a staple villain in Aquaman lore for decades. It would not be until the 1990’s when Black Manta would be given a proper origin story, which would occasionally be re-imagined or retold in numerous ways and through an equal number of mediums as being: an abused child among a ship’s crew, the revenge-seeking son of a felled ship’s captain and an autistic orphan driven to villainy after being the subject of experimentation in Arkham Asylum.

Jason Mamoa (Game of Thrones) will serve as the titular King of the Seven Seas, after having made his official debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and after entering the fold of heroes in the Justice League film.  Amber Heard will play Mera (Queen of Atlantis) and Willem Dafoe as his advisor Vulko.

James Wan will helm the solo Aquaman film as director, with a script penned by screenwriter Will Beall and acclaimed comic book writer and DC Entertainment President Geoff Johns.

Aquaman is set to hit theaters July 27, 2018.
